Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 6, 1906: “Last night a thief broke into a local home, was surprised and vanished without getting much loot. However, danger was feared when he left a bottle thought to contain nitroglycerine. The bottle was sent for analysis and identification. : The board of directors of the YMCA met and decided the local agency is in good condition after the opening of the new building earlier this year. : Many in the scientific fields at the university are spending time with medical people at the KU center in Kansas City. : The territory of Arizona voted 3-1 against joint statehood with New Mexico. The issue carried in New Mexico but to no avail. : Willis K. Folks, who has been treasurer of the university for several years, has resigned. Ed E. Brown, an assistant, has been appointed interim.”
