Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 5, 1906: “Generally fair weather is due to bring out heavy votes all over the United States today and the World will have all the latest results as soon as they can be produced through a Postal Telegraph Co. wire running into our building for the event. : Rigid legislation governing conditions at packing houses is due to go before the legislature and seems to have a good chance of passage in the interest of public health. : Word is that Washburn is frightened by the prospect of its coming football game with Kansas and is practicing behind closed gates. Kansas is trying to rebound from its 34-2 loss at St. Louis, the first loss of the season for KU, now 6-1.”
