¢ Anderson JGC Winner: Chris Anderson shot 70 and won Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club net tournament at Alvamar by one stroke over Mike Naegele. Mike Beaton and Curt Anderson each carded a 72. In with 73s were Mike Hertling, Randy Gebhards, Tom Dennis and Conrad Roberts, who also recorded the low gross with a 69.

¢ U-12 Volleyball Trials: Tryouts for Lawrence MAVS U-12 volleyball will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Southwest Junior High. ¢ Lecompton Fundraiser: The Lecompton Youth Ball Assn. will conduct a hot dog and chili feed fundraiser Friday at the city’s community building. All money raised will be used for baseball and softball equipment. For information, call Penny Kellum at 887-6936.

¢ Junior High Clinic: A preseason basketball clinic for eighth- and ninth-grade boys will be Saturday and Sunday at Free State High. For information, call Aaron Siebenthall at 766-4769 or Bryan Duncan at 766-9840.

¢ Free State Baseball: A parent-student meeting for ninth-graders interested in playing baseball at Free State High will be held at 7 p.m. today in the school’s main gym. For information, call Mike Hill at 832-6050.

¢ Libeer Honored: Lawrence’s Larry Libeer has been inducted into the William Jewell College Athletic Hall of Fame. Libeer was the shortstop on Jewell’s 1968 NAIA championship team. His home run in the 13th inning gave Jewell a 4-3 victory over Georgia Southern for the school’s first national title.

¢ Soccer Tryouts: Tryout information for all high school boys interested in trying out for the Kansas Soccer Academy spring season is available at www.kansassocceracademy.com.

¢ Giffin Hole-in-One: Phyllis Giffin used a driver to ace the 115-yard No. 9 hole last week at the Orchards Golf Course. Allen Penix was the witness.
