Old home town – 40 years ago today

Members of Lawrence High’s 1966 graduating class were asked to make their lives’ program one of “learning, loving, serving and trusting.” The baccalaureate speaker was the Rev. Harold Hamilton.

The largest commencement crowd in Kansas University history was expected for the coming centennial year ceremonies.

The Lawrence school board planned to ask the state to allow it to exceed its budget by $403,985. The state had a budget lid that required special permission for such an extension.
