Three Lawrence High seniors were being graduated with all-A grade records throughout high school - Woody Wright, Kathy Binns and Richard Whitley Jr.
A search was under way for a 15-year-old Eudora girl, Jean Hadl, who apparently had drowned during a wading party with teenage friends near the new Eudora bridge.
Constant Construction of Lawrence was awarded the contract for the addition to Kennedy School.
