The Lawrence League of Women Voters was celebrating the group’s 50th anniversary for the “airing of issues.”

Karen Bigsby Hurley, 32, of the Lawrence area married Gov. John Carlin, 40. It was the second marriage for both. The new Mrs. Carlin said she was looking forward eagerly to being involved in the state government whirl. She earlier had been a campaign worker for Carlin.
