Edgar Renteria hit two of the Atlanta Braves’ club-record eight homers in a 13-12 victory in 11 innings over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.

Marcus Giles hit a three-run homer, and Adam LaRoche homered twice for the Braves. Atlanta also got solo shots from Andruw Jones, Ryan Langerhans and Brayan Pena to complete the three-game sweep of the Cubs, who have lost 21 of their last 25 games, including six straight.

“Crazy day at Wrigley, that’s the only way I can describe it,” said Cox, who saw his team blow a four-run lead in the ninth and then come back to win it thanks to Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez dropping a routine pop-up in the 11th.

Rockies 6, Giants 3

San Francisco – Barry Bonds homered off Byung-Hyun Kim (3-2) in the fourth inning.

Jamey Wright (5-4) got the loss for the Giants.

Brian Fuentes worked a perfect ninth for his 11th save.

Phillies 6, Brewers 2

Philadelphia – Ryan Howard hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to help the Phillies salvage the finale of the season series.

Howard’s drive was his 17th of the season and his major-league-leading 12th this month.

Astros 5, Pirates 4 (10)

Pittsburgh – Preston Wilson singled in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning, and the Astros snapped a five-game losing streak.

Houston scored four runs in the ninth inning to tie it after losing in 18 innings the night before.

Jason Bay homered in a sixth consecutive game.

Padres 10, Cardinals 8

San Diego – San Diego scored eight runs in the fifth inning, and Jake Peavy (4-5) got the win.

Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols hit a three-run drive for his major-league-leading 24th homer.

Nationals 10, Dodgers 4

Washington – Nick Johnson hit two home runs, and the Nationals completed their first winning homestand of the season.

The Nationals finished the homestand 7-3.

Reds 5, Diamondbacks 4

Cincinnati – Javier Valentin hit a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Reds.

Mets 7, Marlins 3

Miami – The Mets never trailed after scoring four runs off Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco (3-2) in the first.

Orlando Hernandez won his first start with the Mets, and Carlos Beltran homered.

Hernandez (3-4), who was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowed three runs and five hits in five innings.
