The annual Alfred Bromelsick Memorial will be at 10 a.m. today in Oak Hill Cemetery. All Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4-H members are encouraged to attend the ceremony at Bromelsick’s grave site. Alfred Bromelsick, a Lawrence businessman, left his estate to the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H of Douglas County after his death in the early 1950s. Bromelsick requested, in his will, that a memorial service be held every year in his honor for his service to the youth of Douglas County.

Each year one of the three organizations is responsible for the memorial. This year a Girl Scout troop will be conducting the ceremony.
