Texas tops Baylor; NU wins

? Drew Stubbs had four RBIs, and Texas pitchers allowed just four hits over the final three innings as the Longhorns beat Baylor, 16-8, in the Big 12 Conference baseball tournament Thursday.

Stubbs went 4-for-5 including a three-run homer in a four-run second inning that widened the Longhorns’ lead to 5-0.

Baylor (34-24) closed the gap to 5-4 in the third inning on a homer by Beamer Weems and Seth Fortenberry’s three-run homer, but Texas (40-18) rattled off seven runs in the next frame.

Weems finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth that helped the Bears narrow the deficit to 12-6. The Longhorns added four more runs, and Baylor could manage only two more down the stretch.

Kyle Walker (4-1) got the victory, allowing one hit and three runs in 21â3 innings of relief for Texas.

Ryan LaMotta (6-6) suffered the loss after allowing eight hits and 10 runs, six of those earned, in 31â3 innings for Baylor.

Nebraska 6, Texas Tech 4

Jeff Christy was 2-for-2 with two RBIS and a home run, and Nebraska used a four-run sixth inning to upend Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders (31-25) outhit the Huskers (41-14), 10-7, and had three home runs to NU’s one, but Nebraska made the most of its opportunities.

Joba Chamberlain (6-4) picked up the win for the Cornhuskers. He was touched for nine hits and all four runs over seven innings.

Brett Jensen threw 12â3 hitless innings to pick up his 12th save.
