Old home town – 100 years ago today

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 25, 1906: “It appears Douglas County could have a serious drought here this year while other parts of the state enjoy good moisture. Since January, records by Dr. Snow at KU say the drought cycle is likely here. The county is now five inches short of normal rainfall and there are no good prospects to improve that sad condition. : Kansas University commencement activities begin May 31 and run through June 6. A full schedule of major events is planned. : Norris Forringer refused to pay his dog tax and was fined $15.50 in court here. He’d been better off to pay the tax since the fine was higher.”
