Mumps cases climb

Douglas County now has 256 confirmed or probable mumps cases, the county health department announced Tuesday.

The state's total has climbed to 674 confirmed or probable cases, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced Tuesday.

More than one-third of the state's cases have come from Douglas County; 66 counties have reported at least one case.

A majority of the Douglas County cases have involved Kansas University students. KU reported 184 cases Friday, the last day of final exams.
