KVF-Blue have strong showing at Cup
The Kaw Valley Force-Blue completed a successful weekend of tournament play in the Governor’s Cup Tournament May 13-14 in Topeka.
After three games of pool play, the Force-Blue were tied for first place with a record of 2-1-0, but failed to advance. The KVF-Blue, coached by Kyle Glick, executed two shut outs in defeating the Azzurri Heat 1-0 in game 1 and the Salina Scorpions 4-0 in game 3 with solid team defense and tenacious goal keeping by Jackson Mercer. The Force lost to the Emporia Arsenal 1-5 in game 2. The Arsenal advanced to the championship game after winning the tie breaker decision.

Nicholas Haig scored the game-winning goal in game one off a perfectly placed corner kick by Clint Chapman in the second half versus the Azzurri Heat Saturday morning.
Clint Chapman scored the lone goal for the Force-Blue in game two versus the Emporial Arsenal Saturday afternoon.
Thaius Boyd, Cale Bertrand, Clint Chapman and Andrew Wesp each contributed a goal Sunday morning as the Force-Blue went on to defeat the Salina Scorpions 4-0.
