Hazy, warm and breezy
Chance for thunderstorms tonight
Lawrence was a little on the hazy side this morning.
“I do think we’ll have a few scattered clouds through the day,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “But the clouds should not be a hamper to our temperature. We’ll still soar into the upper 80s.”
Schack said today’s high will be 89 degrees, with south winds 10 to 20 mph.
At 7:30 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 67 degrees, the humidity was 93 percent and winds were out of the northwest at 8 mph.
The average low temperature for this date is 58 degrees. The record low was 38 degrees, set in 1977.
The average high temperature for this date is 78 degrees. The record high was 94 degrees, set in 1939.
Thunderstorms will erupt farther to the north and the west of Lawrence this afternoon, Schack said.
During the evening hours, they will move toward Lawrence, she said.
“We have just the very isolated chance for a storm before midnight,” Schack said. “It could be a wet commute to work on Wednesday morning.”
Wednesday’s temperature will start with a low of 66 in the morning and climb to a high of 89 this afternoon, she said.
Thursday’s morning low will be 63 degrees, climbing to a high of 86, with mostly sunny skies.
