The Lawrence population had risen at least 1,715 the past year while the Douglas County total was up 1,485, according to assessor Darwin Rogers.

Residences in the area of 15th and Meadow Lane across from the KU atomic reactor were being removed to make way for the big new Jayhawker Towers project to be built with the leadership of the Stanley Learned-Boots Adams group headquartered in Bartlesville, Okla.
