Carol Danner was named local “Teacher of the Year” through Wal-Mart’s 11th annual Teacher of the Year program. Danner, of Prairie Park School, received a $1,000 grant for the school, a $100 gift card to buy supplies for her classroom, a Teacher of the Year shirt, and certificate.

She received the award May 11 during a special ceremony at the school. Teachers were nominated by members of the community during February and selected by a committee of store and club associates.
