Old home town – 25 years ago today

Four years earlier, the city commission had approved a “planning experiment” at the northwest corner of Sixth and Kasold. A busy car wash and a vacant restaurant stood in 1981 as “monuments” to a project some said was doomed from the start. Originally there were to be two single-story office buildings, a car wash, a “fancy” restaurant and groups of triplexes to buffer Sixth Street Terrace residents from the commercial development.
