From the Lawrence Daily World for May 15, 1906: “Ex-Sen. W.A. Harris, whether elected Kansas governor or not this fall, will hereafter call Lawrence his home, not only for campaign purposes but throughout his career. However, if elected governor, he will live in Topeka while serving. : A number of local people are getting electric motors for their sewing machines and seem to be very pleased with the results. : The board of trustees of Stanford University has appointed a group to oversee rebuilding of the many campus structures damaged or destroyed by the recent killer earthquake in San Francisco.”
