Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 13, 1906: “Some have observed that while Kansas Gov. Hoch is accused of making Kansas the ‘next friend’ of the railroads, he is not accuses of kissing ‘Katy.’ : Kansas baseball players are justifiably proud of their 5-4 victory over powerful Washburn here yesterday. It was an unusual and hard-fought game with Kansas getting the telling run in its last inning. : Too bad the Kansas state line cannot be drawn to put Kansas City, Kan., over into Missouri where it could associate with its own kind of lawbreakers without violating any Kansas laws.”
