Nurses attend course on end-of-life care

Carol Schmitt and Terri Busch, of Hospice Care in Douglas County, recently attended a two-day course regarding end-of-life care conducted by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the City of Hope Cancer Center.

Schmitt and Busch were among 103 nurses who attended to receive training on providing education to other nurses in all aspects of end-of-life and palliative-care issues. Topics included pain assessment and management; ethical and cultural issues; bereavement; and achieving quality care at the end of life.
