Katherine Heflin, Lawrence, was named to the winter term 2006 dean’s List at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn.
Seventeen Emporia State University students received special recognition at the 22nd Annual Teachers College Honors Banquet on April 28.
Amanda Pearce, Wellsville, was recognized for excellence in middle and secondary teacher education and for having at least a 3.75 cumulative grade-point average. She was honored for her exceptional abilities in the areas of scholarship, pedagogical skill and professionalism. After completing her student teaching in Gardner, she hopes to stay there and teach middle school science.
During the banquet, Sherri Braksick, McLouth, also was honored for having at least a 3.75 cumulative GPA.
The St. John Mexican Fiesta committee announces that Jessica Del-Rosa Garcia, a Free State High School senior, is its 2006 scholarship recipient. She is the daughter of Vincent and Christie Garcia.
Knights of Columbus Council 1372 has announced that Kristina Krones and Justin Fox are the winners of the 2006 scholarships.
Kristina won the $500 Jim Hill Memorial Scholarship, which is given annually to a graduating high school senior who is Catholic and a member of a Lawrence Catholic church.
Justin received the $500 Grand Knight Scholarship, which is given annually to a Knight of Council 1372 or an immediate family member.

Mark and Marilee Hinderliter, Baldwin, announce the birth of their daughter, Braelyn Noel Hinderliter, born April 25, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She has a sister, Gracelyn, 3.

Mark and Julie Pringle, Baldwin, announce the birth of their son, Vance Cooper Pringle, born March 13, 2006, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Vance has a sister, Peyton. Maternal grandparents are Joe and Penny Schulmeister. Paternal grandparents are Roger and Linda Pringle. Great-grandparents are Jacquelyn Layton and Ruby Pringle.

Eric Anderson, a senior at Ottawa High School, has been selected as a Robertson Scholar for this fall at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Several members of Baker University’s School of Nursing’s graduating class recently were inducted into the Eta Kappa at-large chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the honor society for nursing.
