Deer leads to four-car accident on K-10

Two persons injured, including Lawrence man

A deer on the highway led to a four-vehicle wreck this morning on Kansas Highway 10 that sent a Lawrence man and one other person to the hospital.

The wreck happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. on K-10 east of Ridgeview Road when a 27-year-old Olathe man, Dustin D. Dade, slammed on the brakes of his 2004 Kia and struck a deer.

He was rear-ended by a 1989 Ford driven by Michael D. Wright, 25, of Perry. Wright, who was wearing a seat belt, wasn’t injured, but a passenger, 26-year-old James L. Osburn Jr. of Lawrence, wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with injuries.

A third driver, 30-year-old Stephanie A. Longhorn of Olathe, was injured after she tried to maneuver her 2005 Dodge to avoid the wreck. She was wearing a seat belt but was taken to Olathe Medical Center.

Also, a 2002 Honda station wagon driven by 65-year-old Marilyn Wehr of Olathe was hit by flying debris, but Wehr was not injured.
