Rain staying off to the west

Grab a jacket on your way out the door – breezy conditions, with temperatures only in the 50s and 60s are in store for Lawrence today through the weekend, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“Temperatures are below average all the way through next Monday,” Schack said.

At 7 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 56 degrees, the humidity was 72 percent and winds were from the northwest at 14 mph.

This morning’s low temperature was 56 degrees. The average low temperature for this date is 54 degrees. The record low was 36 degrees, set in 1924.

“We have some high clouds for this morning and they’ll thicken up this afternoon,” Schack said. Today’s high temperature will climb to 69 degrees, she said. Rain will stay off to the west of Lawrence today, she said.

The average high temperature for this date is 75 degrees. The record high was 90 degrees, set in 1962.

Winds will be from the north at 10 to 18 mph, she said.

Tonight, the temperature will fall to 43 degrees by early Thursday morning, with northwest winds at 5 to 15 mph, Schack said.

Thursday’s afternoon high will be 66 degrees, with cloudy skies, she said.

Friday’s morning low will be 42 degrees, with Friday’s high climbing to 72 degrees, she said.
