After a stormy night and scattered showers earlier this morning, Lawrence's skies were clearing out by late morning.

"Some sunshine returns to the area this afternoon," said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

As of 10:30 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport had recorded 0.36 of an inch of rain since midnight. The temperature was 67 degrees, the humidity was 81 percent and winds were from the northwest at 5 mph.

The average high temperature for this date is 75 degrees. The record high was 89 degrees, set in 1956.

Schack said today's high temperature will climb to 76 degrees. Winds will be 10-15 mph out of the north, she said

Overnight, Lawrence's temperature will fall to 54 degrees, Schack said.

Wednesday's high temperature will be 70 degrees, with cloudy skies and north to northwest winds at 10 to 18 mph, she said.

"I think any rain showers will stay to the north of us," Schack said.

Cooler air will filter in Thursday, she said. Thursday's morning low will be 42 degrees. Thursday afternoon high will be 69 degrees, with partly cloudy skies, she said.
