Texas tough on KU

Longhorns cruise to 11-4 victory

? Texas scored at least one run in four of the first six innings, then dropped a six-spot in the eighth to upend Kansas University, 11-4, on Saturday at Disch-Falk Stadium.

The seventh-ranked Longhorns (35-15 overall, 18-4 Big 12 Conference) scored single runs in each the second and third innings, added two runs in the fourth and another run in the sixth.

KU (33-20, 10-13) pulled within 5-1 in the eighth before Texas dropped the six-run bomb.

Nick Czyz (3-2) took the loss in his first career Big 12 start. The left-hander struck out one batter and gave up four earned runs on four hits in 32â3 innings.

Freshman Riley Boening (4-1) started for the Longhorns and picked up the win. The lefty struck out seven Jayhawks and allowed three hits in six innings.

Texas left the bases loaded in the third and sixth innings and stranded 10 runners in the game while KU left nine on base.

Kansas sophomore Brock Simpson had three hits, while Ritchie Price and Gus Milner each had two.

The teams will conclude their series at 1 p.m. today.

KU senior Kodiak Quick (8-3, 3.22 earned-run average) will face Adrian Alaniz (5-2, 4.36).

The Longhorns will attempt to sweep the series from the Jayhawks, a feat that hasn’t happened to Kansas this season.
