Old home town – 100 years ago today

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 6, 1906: “The food problem seems to be acute in earthquake-stricken San Francisco. Three hundred thousand people could be in danger if help does not arrive soon. : The weakest spot on the Republican election ticket is the railroad board. Too many railroad men are on the board : Towns everywhere are saying that last year’s ice prices will prevail this year. The ice men seem to have done such a good job of boosting prices last year that they are unable to improve upon their work.”
