Three convicted in theft of Munch masterpieces

? Three men were convicted Tuesday by a Norwegian court for the theft of Edvard Munch masterpieces “The Scream” and “Madonna.”

The three Norwegians received terms of between four and eight years after being convicted of providing or driving the getaway car. The Oslo court, however, did not find proof that any of them, or three others who were acquitted Tuesday, were the masked, gun-wielding robbers who actually stole the Norwegian national treasures in front of shocked witnesses.

Despite an international police hunt, and the offer of a $328,000 reward, the paintings have not been recovered.
