Local Jr. Highs compete, multi-sport athletes shine at Bulldog Relays

Nearly 300 athletes from the four Lawrence junior high schools descended on Southwest Jr. High April 26 for the eighth edition of the Bulldog Relays. Star runners, throwers, and jumpers showed off their skills on the junior varsity and varsity levels in front of a large crowd of parents and supporters. West’s Chase Hoag was the individual highlight of the Relays, taking first place in the 100-meter dash, 200m, 400m and the high jump. Each junior high had a strong showing. From South’s Chebon Dawes winning the discus, to Southwest’s Kendyll Severa winning the long jump, and Central’s 4×100 team winning the JV relay – every team showcased its talents on a great, albeit slightly wet, day for a track and field meet.
