Hull-Moffett solid for Free State tennis

The Free State High No. 1 doubles team of Jack Hull and Charlie Moffet went 4-1 and placed second Tuesday at the Topeka High Tennis Invitational.

Hull and Moffet, undefeated in pool play, fell to Maize’s Eric Krissele and Jude Schreiner, 8-4, in the championship match.

Free State’s Drew Schelar and Blake Thomas went 3-2 and placed fifth.

In singles, Firebird Keith Pipkin went 4-1 and placed third, and Patrick Spurgeon took fifth with a 3-2 record.

Maize won the team title with 37 points. Free State was fourth with 29.
