Tenure, promotion policies under review

A Kansas University task force has started revising the written policies for faculty tenure and promotion.

The task force will review current policies in the Faculty Senate Rules and Regulations, Faculty Handbook and other documents. The aim is to make the documents uniform.

“If you rely on one set of guidelines, you get one result,” University Council President Jim Carothers said. “If you rely on another set of guidelines, you get another result. We think everybody ought to be following the same set of guidelines.”

Work is expected to continue through the summer. The task force may have a draft for discussion in the fall, Carothers said.
