Douglas County’s unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in February, down from 4.4 percent a year earlier, the Kansas Department of Labor reported Thursday.

Last month’s rate was the lowest among the state’s metropolitan areas. The rates were 5.3 percent in Topeka, 5.5 percent in Kansas City and 5.2 percent in Wichita.

The statewide unemployment rate was 5 percent in February, down from 5.6 percent a year earlier.
