City commissioners will have a question-and-answer discussion on the city's sewer problems Friday.
Commissioners will host the "sewer summit" from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lawrence school district's service center, 110 McDonald Drive.
The round-table discussion will include city commissioners, members of the Lawrence Home Builders Assn., representatives of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, engineering and development firms, Black & Veatch engineers and city staff members.
Following the discussion, the public will be able to ask questions.
City leaders are doing in-depth studies of the city's sewer system after city staff members began expressing concerns that the sewer system in northwest Lawrence wasn't adequate to handle anticipated growth. Staff members will review studies that have been completed or are under way, and will discuss possible solutions to improve the area's sewer system.
