Surprise, Ariz. ? Steve Andrade, who was claimed earlier in the day off waivers, pitched a scoreless inning to get the win in Kansas City’s 6-4 victory against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.

Andrade, a rookie right-hander, walked the first batter he faced in the seventh before retiring three in a row.

Andrade, who was placed on waivers by the San Diego Padres, is 13-8 with a 2.65 earned-run average in 188 minor-league relief appearances. He was 3-2 with a 1.97 ERA last season with Double-A New Hampshire of the Eastern League.

Aaron Guiel led off the bottom half of the seventh with a home run as Kansas City scored four times to take a 5-1 lead.

Mike Sweeney, who was playing for the first time since March 9 because of a bone bruise in his left leg, contributed an RBI single in the seventh. Angel Berroa’s two-out double scored Sweeney and Mark Teahen.

Sweeney also had a RBI single in the eighth and went 2-for-5.

Royals starter Denny Bautista gave up one run – a home run to Prince Fielder in the second – in six innings. He allowed six hits, walked three and struck out five.
