Old home town – 40 years ago today

Mary Elizabeth Sonneborn and Woody Wright were the top two winners in the Douglas County Science Fair of 1966.

District Judge Frank R. Gray announced he would seek re-election to the 41st District Kansas judgeship which he had held for three terms. He was a Republican.

Earl Wilson, Douglas County superintendent of schools since 1958, announced he would seek re-election to a fifth term. (The position was later abolished with Wilson leading the way to do that.) The candidate was a Democrat active as a highly successful little league basketball coach.
