College Station, Texas — Texas A&M's Jami Lobpries hit a two-run, two-out walk-off home run to beat Kansas University, 2-1, in Big 12 Conference softball Saturday at the Aggie Sports Complex.
KU fell to 15-15 overall after its league opener. A&M, ranked 15th nationally, improved to 22-9 and 2-0.
The Jayhawks used four hits to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth. Heather Stanley, Nettie Fierros and Destiny Frankenstein had three straight hits to lead off the inning. Stanley was called out for leaving base early, and Serena Settlemier flew out to left for the second out, but Jessica Moppin singled off the glove of Aggie third baseman Jamie Hinshaw to score Fierros from second.
Lobpries homered off Kassie Humphreys.
Humphreys (6-10) held A&M hitless until the bottom of the fifth.
KU and A&M will wrap up the series with a single game starting at noon today.
