Lawrence school budget proposals released

Lawrence school officials have released a list of 38 spending proposals being considered for the district’s 2006-07 budget, which begins July 1.

The list was introduced during the school board’s March 13 meeting. Plans call for reviewing each proposal, starting with the board’s March 27 meeting at the district’s offices, 110 McDonald Dr. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m.

The list is available on www.ljworld.com.

The proposals add up to more than $7 million in additional spending.

“There’s no way we can do everything,” said Supt. Randy Weseman. “All we can do at this point is start setting priorities.”

Weseman said the district will be lucky to receive $3.2 million in additional state aid for 2006-07.
