The Lawrence City Commission rejected by a 5-0 vote a rezoning application for a proposed “cornfield mall” shopping area in southwest Lawrence. But the commission left open a request to put the issue to a citywide vote. The commission’s denial ended its official involvement in the matter unless the applicant, Jacobs, Visconsi, Jacobs of Cleveland, chose to take the matter to court.
