Northwestern wins, 1-0

? Kansas University’s softball team suffered its eighth one-run loss of the season, falling to 17th-ranked Northwestern, 1-0, on Friday in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational.

Kansas was paced by freshman Val Chapple, who went 2-for-3 with a double, while junior Kassie Humphreys yielded one run on five hits with four walks and seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Northwestern scored in the top of the sixth when Kristen Amegin singled to lead off the inning. After a walk by Sheila McCorkle, Ashley Crane singled to load the bases with one out. Humphreys struck out Erin Dyer for the second out, but walked Darcy Sengewald to bring in pinch-runner Gina Gonzalez.

KU (13-13) will face Longwood at 6 tonight and Hawaii at 8.
