Law enforcement report

Lawrence Police are investigating an 18-year-old woman’s report that she was raped by a 21-year-old male suspect around 9 p.m. Friday in the southwest part of Lawrence. Police had not yet contacted the suspect as of Wednesday and were investigating whether alcohol played a role in the incident.

¢ Lawrence Police have forwarded prosecutors their report of a disturbance that led to a gunshot being fired around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Sweetgrass Court. The disturbance involved a group of at least five people, and at one point a 36-year-old woman fired a gunshot into the ground. According to a report, police classified the gunshot as a possible case of aggravated assault, with her 39-year-old ex-spouse listed as the victim.

No one was arrested, but police seized a 9mm handgun. The case has been sent to Dist. Atty. Charles Branson’s office for possible charges.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ More than $4,000 worth of tools belonging to two different companies were reported stolen between 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday from the 600 block of Folks Road, according to police reports.

¢ A 31-year-old Kansas University student reported his $11,000 motorcycle stolen between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. March 8 from the 1600 block of West Ninth Street.
