‘C.S.A.’ editor/actor earns freakish press
Critical acclaim is not the only way “C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America” is gaining press coverage. In fact, one cast/crew member of the Lawrence-made film found out just how quirky notoriety can be.
The film’s editor, Sean Blake, who also has a cameo role in the mock documentary portraying Adolf Hitler, came across this article from the Evening Times of Glasgow, Scotland:
“Peaches Geldof is making a name for being outspoken, but she let her T-shirt do the talking about a new romance with budding film actor Sean Blake.
The 16-year-old daughter of Sir Bob and presenter of Sky One’s Teen America recently criticized super-skinny celebs such as Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie. And she got her feelings off her chest last night with a T-shirt spray-painted with the name of her sylph-like new squeeze.
Wearing a matching top, Sean Blake, who played Hitler in mockumentary film ‘C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America,’ joined Peaches at the film premiere of ‘Kidulthood.'”
“It was a very strange experience,” says Lawrence resident Blake, who for the record is not dating Peaches. “I read it two or three times and went, ‘What? No!'”
Apparently, the U.K. press extrapolated that someone romancing a famous person must also be famous, so they took a speculative leap.
“I don’t know if he’s an actor or musician or what,” Blake says of his counterpart. “Another article referred to him as ‘the mysterious Sean Blake.’ I think they were desperately seeking information when they Googled ‘Sean Blake’ and came up with that.”
Blake (an employee of Free State Studios, which is owned by the World Company) says he had never heard of Peaches, either. Although his mom said she recently ran across the budding starlet on TV warning celebrities not to name their children after fruit.
So far the repercussions of the article have been mostly humorous.
“I do have some family over in the U.K., and I did hear from them,” Blake says. “They made some remark joking, ‘Why didn’t you stop in for a visit while you were here?'”
Then again, one can look at the situation from the opposing angle. Somewhere over in the U.K. there is an innocent teen who just got accused of impersonating Hitler.
