Traffic calming on list for funding

City commissioners agreed to add about $150,000 worth of traffic calming improvements on 13th Street between Connecticut Street and Haskell Avenue to a list of projects that need to be considered for funding.

Commissioners unanimously accepted a recommendation from the Traffic Safety Commission that traffic circles and speed humps should be considered for the road to slow speeds.

But commissioners also said that during budget talks this summer they need to have a serious discussion about how to pay for the list of traffic calming improvements proposed for the city. The estimated cost for traffic calming improvements proposed but not funded has grown to about $750,000.
