Harmon-Thomas breaks national records
Nine-year-old Alexa Harmon-Thomas won six National Championships and set five national records in track and field.

Harmon-Thomas just returned from two weekends of traveling to two national indoor track meets, the Northern National in Merrillville, Ind. and the Southern National in Knoxville, Tenn.
At the Northern National the weekend of Feb. 18 she won the National Championship in the long jump, high jump and multi events, which combines shot put, high jump and 200-yard run. She also placed third in the 200-yard run. On her way to first place finishes she set the national record in the multi events and the long jump.
During competition at the Southern National the weekend of Feb. 25 she won the National Championship in the long jump, high jump and multi events and placed second in the 200-yard run. In her second weekend of competition she broke her own national records in the multi events, long jump and high jump.
Add this to her prior success and this makes her a 12-time national champion. She is already looking forward to the outdoor season this summer, as she will compete in two national meets in July and August in Virginia Beach, Va. and Baltimore, Md.
Harmon-Thomas is a fourth-grader at Quail Run Elementary.
