KJaywalk event to benefit student safety service

KJHK 90.7 and Kansas University’s Jaywalk group have organized the KJaywalk contest to benefit the Jaywalk program, a student safety escort service. Throughout March, all KU students who use Jaywalk will be entered into a drawing for prizes donated by KJHK.

The top winner will receive a Marantz PMD-325 CD player. Two runners-up will receive Timex Ironman watches, and a third runner-up will receive a KJHK care package that includes Roasterie coffee and KJHK T-shirts.

Winners will be announced April 1.

“After reading a recent article in the Lawrence Journal-World, KJHK recently became aware that the Jaywalk program has been underutilized, and we wanted to help out,” KJHK Station Manager Courtney Ryan said.

Jaywalk provides volunteers who escort any KU student to any on-campus location between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for free. Contact Jaywalk at Anschutz Library or by phone at 864-3222.
