Temperatures warming into the 60s
Storms possible Tuesday and Wednesday
Lawrence can expect another spring-like day, with temperatures rising into the mid 60s, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.
“It looks sunshine will continue through the afternoon,” Schack said.
However, clouds are moving in tonight, bringing another chance for rain through the middle of the week, Schack said.
At 12:10 p.m., the temperature at Lawrence Municipal Airport was 58 degrees, the humidity was 38 percent and winds were variable.
The overnight low came about 4 a.m., as the temperature dipped to 27 degrees. The average low for this date is 32 degrees. The record low is 3 degrees, set in 1899.
The average high for today is 53 degrees. The record high is 80 degrees, set in 1956.
Schack said today’s high will be about 10 degrees above average, climbing to 63 degrees, with light and variable winds.
Overnight, the low will be 38 degrees by early Tuesday morning, she said.
Lawrence got about a half inch of rain on Saturday and more showers and thunderstorms are likely on Tuesday, she said.
Tuesday’s high will be 55 degrees, with mostly cloudy skies.
Wednesday’s morning low will be 48 degrees, with Wednesday’s high climbing to 64 degrees, she said. Wednesday will bring a chance for developing storms, she said.
