Old home town – 25 years ago today

After five nights of shivering from cold while stranded on a road twisting through the Bighorn Mountains near Casper, Wyo., the 24-year-old daughter of a Lawrence couple returned safely to her Casper home. She was Pam Griggs, a historian with the Federal Water and Power Resource Service. She was in the mountains to take pictures when her car became stalled in the snow. She had existed on melted snow and a candy bar and was located after an airplane search. Her mother, Aleene Griggs, cheerfully reported that the daughter was “dirty, hungry and tired” but otherwise in good condition.
