Western Kansas art vandalized

? Artwork that lines two highways leading into this small town southeast of Dodge City has been the target of vandals.

M.T. Liggett, whose caricatures of famous and not-so-famous figures line U.S. 54 and U.S. 56, said people have defaced 10 different paintings since December with spray-painted obscenities and other vulgar messages. One board that originally read “Support gay marriage,” had the word “gay” blacked out.

The Kiowa County sheriff’s office is investigating.

“They have their right to their opinion, but they do not have the right to get beyond the law and do what they’re doing,” Liggett said. “I don’t fight dirty. They’re fighting dirty.”
