Teen didn’t die from kiss after peanut snack

March 4, 2006

— A 15-year-old girl with a peanut allergy did not die from kissing her peanut-butter-loving boyfriend, a coroner said Friday.

Last year's death of Christina Desforges drew international attention, but Saguenay coroner Michel Miron said her death and her peanut allergy were unrelated. He wouldn't say what the cause was while he waits for more tests.

Miron said an allergy group was planning to use the case as an example in an awareness effort and he didn't want them to base a campaign on a fraudulent theory.
