Cold and sunshine to start the day
Don’t let the clear skies and sun fool you — it’s cold out there.
“Beautiful sunshine right now,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “Sunshine is in the forecast all day long, but don’t forget to wear your coat this morning.”
At 7:54 a.m., the temperature at Lawrence Municipal Airport was 19 degrees, the humidity was 77 percent and winds were from the west at 5 mph, making the windchill 12 degrees.
“We’ve been the coldest temperature on the map all morning,” Schack said.
Despite the chilly start, temperatures are expected to climb to 50 by this afternoon, which is about average for this time of year. Winds will be light, and there’s no sign of clouds until later this evening.
Tomorrow will not be as sunny, with the possibility of showers and cloudy weather. The forecast high is 49, with an overnight low of 34. Sunday may have rain in the early morning, and a high of 52.
Temperatures should stay in the low 50s to start the next week.
