Pizza robbery second at same location

For the second time in two nights, a Lawrence pizza-delivery driver has been robbed at gunpoint at the same vacant apartment.

A 20-year-old delivery driver for Gumby's pizza told police he was called sometime around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday to apartment No. 404 at Trailridge Apartments, 2500 W. Sixth St. Once there, he told officers, a man approached him from behind, pointed a gun and stole $150 in cash and his wireless phone.

That was on the heels of a similar robbery of a Domino's delivery driver at the same spot about 24 hours earlier.

The description of the suspect in both incidents was similar: a black man between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, in his mid-20s, with a dark "hoodie" sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lawrence Police Department or the Crime Stoppers hot line: 843-TIPS.

An article in Tuesday's Journal-World gave the incorrect name of the apartment complex.

Two different drivers/pizza companies, same apartment.

No, no, two different people, one from Domino's and one from Gumby's, went to the same apartment.

Perhaps when a pizza delivery driver is robbed, it would be a nice thing for other delivery companies in town to be notified of that and of the address used in the robbery. It might have prevented the second robbery.

My son recently became a pizza delivery boy, and I have worries. He is really large, fit, an ex-wrestler, and martial arts trained. I explained to him that if confronted with a gun, give up the dough. I hope it got through.

it is a trend. we must ban pizza (and hip hop) leads to too much violent crime

hmmm. I wonder, if the LJW had given the correct address in its article on Tuesday, would the second pizza driver on Wednsday have been forewarned to avoid that address?
