KDOT crew to survey entrance to East Hills

A road-survey crew will begin work today as the state researches a plan to install flashing safety lights along a stretch of Kansas Highway 10 east of Lawrence.

The Kansas Department of Transportation crew will study the entrance to the East Hills Business Park, which has been the scene of repeated car collisions in recent years. KDOT plans to install flashing beacons that will alert drivers on K-10 if a driver is pulling out of the East Hills entrance. The beacons would be connected to cameras at the intersection and would flash only when a driver was turning at the intersection. No definite timeline has been set for the project.
