¢ Top Divers: Logan Kline of the Jayhawk Diving Club won her age-group one-meter competition at the U.S. Diving Region 6 championships in Minneapolis. JDC’s Zack Hale placed second on both the one- and three-meter boards in his age group.

¢ Rebels win tourney: The 9U Kansas Rebels Baseball team took first place in the Summer Smash baseball tournament June 23-25 in Ottawa. Members of the team are: Kyler Cunningham, Casey Hearnen, Jake Hensley, Jacob Holiday, Trevor Hughes, Cooper Karlin, Zak McAlister, Collin McKee, Blake Murray, Bailey Pattin, Jon Saathoff, and Lucas Werner. The Rebels are coached by Pat Karlin, Jeff Pattin, Greg Murray, and Mike Hensley.

¢ Phenix win: The 14U Lawrence Phenix girls fastpitch softball team took first place in the Best of K.C. Tournament at Mid-America West Sports Complex in Shawnee last weekend. Team members are Anna Mages, Ottawa; Kylee Mader, Paola; Haley Finucane and Calleigh Durr, Baldwin; Allison Hoover, Madison Oller, and Bailey Scott, Eudora; and Lexi Smith, Kacie Welborn, Allison Ice, Jamie Morgison and Maddy Wilson, Lawrence. The coaches are Bill Finucane, Baldwin; Lee Ice, Lawrence; and Marv Oller, Eudora.

¢ Tour de France tips: Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop will hold its annual free clinic “The Tour de France for Dummies” at 8 tonight at the store, 804 Mass. The focus of the clinic will be to educate cyclists and non-cyclists alike in the different competitive aspects of the Tour de France. This year’s Tour starts Saturday.

¢ Roesler fires 68: Chad Roesler fired a four-under-par 68 for the lowest posted score int he weekly Jayhawk Glof Club tournament Saturday at Alvamar. Conrad Roberts carded a 70, Brian Tuttle shot 73, Van Reichert shot 74 and Budd Stagg shot 79. In net scoring, Pete Whitenight was low with a 65, followed by Gary Gatten at 66, Tim Hicks and Greg Johnson at 69, and Mike Hertling, Ed Scoltes and Boyd Abts all at 70.

¢ Francis medals: Carol Francis won five age-group medals – three golds and two silvers – in swimming last weekend at the Missouri Senior Games in Columbia, Mo. Neil Salkind and Bob Kent also competed in the Games.

¢ Breslauer second: Fran Breslauer finished second among 63 competitors in her age group at the 2006 Bolder Boulder Memorial Day Race 10K in a time of 1 hour, 22 seconds. She followed up that effort with a fifth-place finish among 22 women in her age group with a time of 47:36 at the WABC Fight/Prostate Cancer five-mile race on June 18 in New York.
